Three Disciples and a Great Master

When I was talking to someone today, I realized for a while they were not paying attention to my words. Of course, even I might have done the same thing sometimes. This reminded me of a story which I read sometime ago in one of the blogs I follow, about three disciples and a great master.

This is story of a great Master who was testing his disciples for imparting the required knowledge. So, he brought three skulls and asked his disciples which one of the skull belonged to a great saint.
The first disciple looked at the skulls, took them in hand and then he pointed at the one which weighed the most.

The second disciple came and showed the one which was shining as that of the saint.

The third disciple took a long thin grass stem and put in one ear of a skull and it came out of the other ear.
He interpreted that the skull belongs to an ordinary man, because whatever he heard through one ear, he let it out through other ear.
We see in our daily life many people that do not respond and we keep saying to them, "did you listen to one ear and let it out through the other ear?"

Now, on to the second skull, he put the same thin grass through the ear it came out through the mouth of the skull.
For this he explained that whatever the person heard through the ear he could not hold it for himself and had comfort only after telling someone. I am sure we commonly do this; I wonder if this is how the word ‘gossip’ came into existence!

Back to the story, the same way, he put the thin grass into the ear of the third skull, this time the stem passed through one ear and went down the neck.
The disciple was quick to explain that this skull belongs to the saint because whatever he heard took everything into his heart and understood well.

Now we know what it takes to become a saint. Looking at the understanding and great explanation of this disciple, the master bestowed his wishes on the disciple and suggested him that he should carry on his journey in the real world. We hear so many things everyday from so many sources. Honestly, how many times have we paid attention while hearing to somebody? Don't we choose to spread the words before understanding? I wonder how our skulls would shape up! Honestly, I am the one among them who follows very few in my life and this is the one. Keep sharing.

Unnecessary But Fascinating Facts

We learn something useful everyday and think we gained some knowledge. I came across some interesting facts, which may not be useful but are fun to know. Here are some unnecessary but fascinating facts collected from internet which are cool to read at leisure.

  • The largest number of children born to one woman, who was a Russian peasant is 69.
  • “Bookkeeper” is the only word in the English language that has 3 letters that consecutively repeat.
  • The only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is uncopyrightable.
  • Turtles can actually breathe through their butts.
  • 315 entries in Webster’s 1996 dictionary were misspelled.
  • A kangaroo can only jump if its tail is touching the ground.
  • A cockroach can live several weeks with its head cut off - it dies from starvation
  • A giraffe can run faster than a horse, and can live without water longer than a camel.
  • Peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite
  • Polar bears are left-handed.
  • There are more Chickens than Human in the World.
  • Cats have over one hundred vocal sounds. Dogs only have about 10.
  • February 1865 is the only month in recorded history not to have a full moon.
  • If you keep a Goldfish in a darkroom it will eventually turn White.
  • Your stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks; otherwise it will digest itself.
  • The brain continues sending electrical wave signals for 37 hours after death.
  • The loudest creature on the planet is the blue whale. Its record is 188 decibels!
  • Honey is the only food that does not spoil. Honey found in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs has been tasted by archaeologists and found edible.
These Facts might not important, Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day is the rest we take between two deep breaths.

Urs,

Pain and Blessings

I happened to read this from one of the blog, I cannot help sharing this in my blog:

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983. From all over the world, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed:
"Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?
To this Arthur Ashe replied:
"The world over -- 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to the semi final, 2 to the finals, when I was holding the cup I never asked GOD 'Why me?'. And today in pain I should not be asking GOD 'Why me?'

We count our pains, but not our blessings.
We never remind ourselves the best we have, but always crib about the ones we could not get. Somehow we cannot show gratitude of what we have, we are always in the look out of something better.

Urs,

Lesson In Life

A wise man once sat in the audience and cracked a joke.. all of them laughed like crazy..

After a moment he cracked the same joke again & a little less people laughed this time...

He cracked the same one again & no one laughed !!!

Then he smiled and said ''when you can't laugh on the same joke again & again then why do you keep crying over the same thing over & over again''

FORGET the past and MOVE ON .........

Ambani : "But my daughter is too young to marry."
Laloo : "But this young man is a vice-president of the World Bank."
Ambani : "Ah, in that case.....Yes"

Finally Laloo goes to see the president of the World Bank.

Laloo : "I have a young man to be recommended as a vice-president."
President :"But I already have more vice-presidents than I need."

What Will Tomorrow Bring?

This is such a great flick... it depicts loneliness .. lost love.. the effect that distance has on inseparable souls... amazing piece of art n photography...

Everything about this image is soft and wistful, from the delicate treatment of the hand to the muted colors of the flowers.

Magical hours of the day

Every hour of the day has its own magic. Things work the best, if they are done at that time. Following are my observations:
  1. Early morning: Excellent for workout, yoga, meditation or for a walk.
  2. Mid and late Morning: Good for digging your head in work and chat with parents in phone.
  3. Afternoon: Nice time to have a break, have a bite of lunch. Also, there is nothing as great as an afternoon nap. Perhaps, bad for health, but one does crave for it after lunch.
  4. Early evening: Great for stroll post work hours and to watch television soaps.
  5. Late Evening: Best time to hangout with friends and again for a walk.
  6. Night: Din Din time, also good time to log onto internet for chatting with your friends.
  7. Late Night: Best time to talk with our SPECIAL person.
Your additions to above are invited and will be appreciated!

The Glorification of Busy.

Busy-ness. Its an excuse. Its an addiction. Its a way of life.
I hate it! I don't believe anyone wants to live a busy life. A full life? Yes. A busy one? Probably not.

Busyiness makes you miss out on life. That's where I am now. In the middle of battling busyness.

- cooking healthy meals 7 days a week.

- Going to gym center for 1 hour

- Chatting with my neighbor friends for at least 1 more and more hours.(secret of my fitness..:P)

- keeping in touch with family.

- Watching daily serials and movies for atleast 3 to 4 hours(call me i ll tell u the exact time frame..:P)

- Downloading a good print movies from online.

- chatting with friends in Phone.

- Reading blogs.

- planning a trip around the world.

- keeping a house clean.

I know I am stretching myself thin and not doing any of these things well. I want to make sure that I am spending QUALITY time with my husband. QUALITY time with my God. Providing QUALITY work.

So I have been taking inventory and cutting back where needed.

All this to say, sorry for the blogging inactivity!
I will catch you up soon!

Cheers,

All about love in the 21st century

Today i was watching a show "One life to love" in NDTV Good Times TV Channel and come across with the topic "All about love in the 21st century" discussing with four young people all between the age 21 and 23.

In my opinion Love is something which confuses with liking and it happens because we share our choices, interests, musics and all the things that we like and start dating each other. But then in a while it get to know that this is not I wanted, even our choices and interest is similar but this doesn't mean that we are in love.

From childhood we lives with our family, our parent teaches us all good things, hence it becomes bonding with family from the beginning of our life days and it becomes a habit of sharing all good and bad things, there we start loving each other. What i wanted to say is here the love comes from our habit where we share all the things like home, food, happys, saddies, clothes etc etc.

People says that I love music, I love my parents, I love my dog, I love reading books etc etc.. here the Love  really comes from there habits. Why people say that I Love music..because, they like music and it makes a habit of listening to music, this applies to all the things i mentioned above.

Today i am very proud to say that I Love my husband. My marriage was arrange marriaged and before my marriage I doesn't met my husband except on my engagement day..:) of course we used to talk in phones and shared all our past life, likes, interests etc. and there i started liking him and after my marriage I started living with him leaving all my past life including parents, family, jobs and friends back. At first it had taken some time to adjust myself with my husband but day by days it became my habit of eating, sleeping, watching TV, movies etc. with my husband and today without him I cant live. All this happened becz i am liking the way of my habit of living with him. Here comes the Love formula:

Like + Habit = LOVE

Hindu man raising a Muslim child in Lucknow

Today, i.e Thursday the 31st January, 2013, at around 11hrs, As I was flipping the channels to kill my leisure time and my remote paused me at the Sony Entertainment Channel where I was glued with this programme called crime patrol with shock and amazement. Initially, I was for sure that programme would contain full of criminal related incidents but truly happened one somewhere in our country. Later from internet I came to know that this story belongs to Aiku Lal Sandil and Akbar from Lucknow city.

On February 2002 a tea vendor in Lucknow Aiku Lal Sandil finds a Muslim boy abandoned at a garden near his tea stall, when asked about his whereabouts the boy only remembers his name as Akbar, Aiku reports to police but the police were unable to trace the boy's parents as there was no complain registered on missing of a three year old boy in any of the police station all over the state.

After loosing hope police advice Aiku to shift the boy to an orphanage, Aiku refuses and brings up the boy on his own, Aiku has merge income but ensures the boy gets proper education and also retains Akbar's religion by taking him to a muslim clerk and making the child learn Quran and read Namaz daily. Soon a lovely relationship blossoms between a hindu man and a muslim boy and they both form a family of their own.

But their world turns upside down when the boy's biological parents turn up and seek the custody of boy, but the boy refuses saying Aiku is his father-mother and wants to stay with Aiku, but the boy's biological parents go to court to claim Akbar's custody. But court pronounces judgement in favor of Aiku and acknowledges Aiku's upbringing of the boy by retaining his religion and providing education. During court proceedings we get insights about the life of Aiku as how he was brought up with love an care by a Muslim family in spite of him being a Hindu.

“I am a Hindu brought up by a kind Muslim man. When I found Akbar, it was like God telling me that it is time to return the love and care I got from His people. I was never forced to change my religion and, having got that education from my guardian, it was my duty to take care of the child and bring him up as per his own religion,” Sandil says.

I got to know about this story through Crime Patrol but the names of Aiku and Akbar have been changed to kishan lal and imran, when i first watched the episode i was moved by its message that showed us how Humanity is greater than religion and also the fact that love is out of bounds of religion and caste.

It makes me really proud to think such people still exist in this day and age, where people of different religions continue to live in unity. No conversion was attempted. They retained their original identity and yet they are far superior at heart.
"One who raises is always bigger than the one who gives birth."

Corporate Lesson - The Pig And The Horse

There was a farmer who collected horses; he only needed one more breed to complete his collection. One day, he found out that his neighbor had the particular horse breed he needed. So, he constantly bothered his neighbor until he sold it to him. A month later, the horse became ill and he called the veterinarian, who said: - Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I'll come back on the 3rd day and if he's not better, we're going to have to put him down.

Nearby, the pig listened closely to their conversation.

The next day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig approached the horse and said: Be strong, my friend. Get up or else they're going to put you to sleep!

On the second day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig came back and said: Come on buddy, get up or else you're going to die! Come on, I'll help you get up. Let's go! One, two, three...

On the third day, they came to give him the medicine and the vet said: Unfortunately, we're going to have to put him down tomorrow. Otherwise, the virus might spread and infect the other horses.

After they left, the pig approached the horse and said: Listen pal, it's now or never! Get up, come on! Have courage! Come on! Get up! Get up! That's it, slowly! Great! Come on, one, two, three... Good, good. Now faster, come on.... Fantastic! Run, run more! Yes! Yay! Yes! You did it, you're a champion!!!

All of a sudden, the owner came back, saw the horse running in the field and began shouting: It's a miracle! My horse is cured. This deserves a party. Let's kill the pig!

Points for reflection: This often happens in the workplace. Nobody truly knows which employee actually deserves the merit of success, or who's actually contributing the necessary support to make things happen.

LEARNING TO LIVE WITHOUT RECOGNITION IS A SKILL!

If anyone ever tells you that your work is unprofessional, remember: amateurs built the Ark and professionals built the Titanic.

Urs,
